Good advice

Man it has been one of those mornings. I woke up late, and it just went down hill from there. I am at work now though, and seem to be pulling out of it, I am just slap assed tired!

I foud this in my email and I thought it was insightful, and well just good advice. I have a problem with worries... and perhaps fear. I have grown up with fear, so it becomes a part of you... I am working on that though! :)

FACING THE ENEMIES WITHIN by Jim Rohn

We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of our fears are brought on by your own experiences, by what someone has told you, by what you've read in the papers. Some fears are valid, like walking alone in a bad part of town at two o'clock in the morning. But once you learn to avoid that situation, you won't need to live in fear of it.

Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside us.

Let me tell you about five of the other enemies we face from within. The first enemy that you've got to destroy before it destroys you is indifference. What a tragic disease this is. "Ho-hum, let it slide. I'll just drift along." Here's one problem with drifting: you can't drift your way to the top of the mountain.

The second enemy we face is indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and enterprise. It will steal your chances for a better future. Take a sword to this enemy.

The third enemy inside is doubt. Sure, there's room for healthy skepticism. You can't believe everything. But you also can't let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past, doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the government, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities. Worse of all, they doubt themselves. I'm telling you, doubt will destroy your life and your chances of success. It will empty both your bank account and your heart. Doubt is an enemy. Go after it. Get rid of it.

The fourth enemy within is worry. We've all got to worry some. Just don't let it conquer you. Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful. If you step off the curb in New York City and a taxi is coming, you've got to worry. But you can't let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you into a small corner. Here's what you've got to do with your worries: drive them into a small corner. Whatever is out to get you, you've got to get it. Whatever is pushing on you, you've got to push back.

The fifth interior enemy is over-caution. It is the timid approach to life. Timidity is not a virtue (unlike humility – they are different); in fact, it can be an illness. If you let it go, it'll conquer you. Timid people don't get promoted. They don't advance and grow and become powerful in the marketplace. You've got to avoid over-caution.

Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears. Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your life and in your pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Useless fact of the day:
Apples are more efficient than caffeine in waking you up in the morning. (Go figure.)

I thought this was funny... A compendium of unlikely words that other languages have but english does not:

Baku-shan (Japanese)
A woman who looks better from behind.

Nakhur (Farsi)
A camel that will not give milk until it’s nostrils are tickled.

Areodjarekput (Inuit)
To exchange wives for a few days only.

Cigerci (Turkish)
Seller of liver and lungs.

Madogiwazoku (Japanese)
Window gazers (office workers who sit at desks with little to do).

Seigneur-terrasse (French)
A person who spends much time but little money at a cafe.

Koshatnik (Russian)
A seller of stolen cats.

Tauji-giri (Japanese)
Trying out a new sword on a passer-by.

Scheissenbedauern (German)
Disappointment when something turns out not nearly as bad as you had hoped.

Tingo (Easter Island)
To borrow objects from a friends house one by one until there is nothing left.

Fisselig (German)
Someone who is flustered to the point of imcompetence.

Maybe more to come latermaybe, I have to get on the stick now~

That was great, my worst enemy has always been indecision, he refers to it as the "theif" I couldnt agree more from my experiences with it.

whoops~

Well, I got home, and decided that I was not finished blogging, I just needed to pay attention in class. First of all, I forgot the useless fact of the day.... hmmm, let me see....

Did you know that:

The average human body contains enough: iron to make a three inch nail, sulfur to kill all fleas on an average dog, carbon to make 900 pencils, potassium to fire a toy cannon, fat to make 7 bars of soap, phosphorous to make 8 match heads, and water to fill a ten gallon tank

I have come to the conclusion that college students, especially those who have to work and go to school, or work so they can go to school, have a food pyramid all of their own?

At the top we have pizza. It is cheap, contains a spread of the normal food groups, and can be eaten for anymeal of the day, can be eaten while studying, playing Ps 2, watching tv.... and much more.

Next comes fast food: not so cheap, but fast and convienient, for those of us that don't have time go go home b/w work and school, or don't have time to cook.

The next layer contians (for me anyways) Tatter tots and popcorn chicken (frozen food) It is cheap, easy to make, and can be eaten while doing all of the things listed above... Also it is easy to make! Preheat oven, put in oven, let cook for 18 minutes (they both cook at the same temp, ya think that was planned?) and eat. Not good reheated though.

and last we have the noodles. Ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. Cheap, quick, easy, and filling.

I had ramen noodles tonight. You really don't to eat a large meal after 8 pm, but I was so hungry, but then who wants to cook for one person that late? Too expensive and fattening to eat out every night, so Ramen noodles it was, Oriental flavored.

Okay I guess I am done blogging now. Behave kiddies!

Red death

I'm baaaackkkkk! You know you missed me!

Now that is a shopping cart!

So, I had a great weekend. We surprised Ruth's man on the way there, we called and said we got off on the turnpike, which would have put us at least 3 hours behind. In all actuality we were ahead of schedule. He was very surprised, and she was very happy. They have a very good relationship! Ladies take notes from this woman, she knows how to make it happen.

We stayed at Andy's friend's house Friday night, had a few beverages, and hung out in the pool for several hours. Much fun, good times! Andy's friend is an aeronautical engineer (in other words a rocket scientist) we hit it off pretty good for the weekend. Was nice not to be a third wheel, though Ruth would have never let that happen. Saturday we were up at a decent time, to head out to Longboat Key. After driving again, we found ourselves on the beach.

While we waited in the parking lot for the rocket scientist to check in (it was his condo,) and I felt, all of the sudden, rather ill, coughing, sneezing, burning eyes. I thought it was just me, but the others started it too. Chris, the rocket scientist, came back with great news. It was red tide, which I called red death all weekend... It killed all the fishies, and it stank to high hell, which put a bit of a damper on the afternoon, but we were determined not to let it ruin our trip, just no beach.

SO, we drank, played shuffle board, swam, watched the gator game. Oh the gator game, It was awesome! We totally stomped Kentucky! At the end of the second half we had them 49-7... we played our second string for the entire second half, and still had almost double the points. For dinner we grilled out steaks, I made baked potatoes, and we ate outside. The red death was beginning to subside. I think we spent a majority of the time in the pool, cause we headed back there after dinner.

I woke up Sunday, and went out for my morning smoke, and much to my surprise, there was no more burning of the eyes or terrible smell. The coughing was gone! I strolled about 20 yards to the beach, and no new dead fish, there were people in the water. I was like hell yeah! I rounded up Ruth and we hit the beach. Then on to the pool we went, and cooked out hotdogs for lunch. All too soon, it was time to head home.

I came back, with a non-severe burn, and no hang over, so that was good! Pictures soon to follow, I promise!

I am sitting in class right now, trying my damnedest to stay awake. This class is 3 hours long, and I do so try to pay attention, but he just drones on and on, and on, and on... And on! It all runs together at the end of a long day. And I don’t get to eat before, so I go from lunch to 8 pm with no food, and if you know me, you are cringing, if not, let me warn you. I get slightly edgy when I get hungry. Not really bad, but noticeable. But I am whining so I shall stop!

Okay, I had better pay attention! Only one hour to go, I can do it.... I think I can... stomach is eating me from the inside... must pay attention... I wonder if the people around me can hear it growling, if so I should apologize.... or not.

15 minutes till margarita time

Well 15 minutes and driving time... I am heading out. Kiddies take care, have a great weekend! I will have one for you! Shit I will have two for you!

Thought for the day:
Pain nourishes courage. You can't be brave if you've only had wonderful things happen to you.

-Mary Tyler Moore

Useless fact of the day:
Bruce Lee was so fast that they actually had to SLOW a film down so you could see his moves. That's the opposite of the norm.

have a great weekend- blog ya when I get back..... a little R&R for me

T- 1.30

Test in an hour and a half.... *bites nails* Cross your fingers for me please.

Stayed up till 2 studying, worked on it all morning, still don't know anything.... gonna fail.... Have I mentioned that I hate math.... especially statistics?

I am a nervous wreck.... more to follow, I will let you know how I think I did.

@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#

So, I think I did okay. There were only 7 questions total... That is a bit nerve wrecking.... I was really proud of myself on one, the first part you had to figure out three different things with the information. Then on the second part, he gave us the standard error and told us to find something else. Well me, being the ever thoughtful person I am, realized that you get the standard error by using the three original parts in another equation. So I plugged my answers into the equation, and came up with the same Standard error.... :) Yay, so that means I got the first three right.

I got a 96 on my psychology test on Monday.... :) Very good stuff!

I am going to the beach this weekend with Ruth! I am soooooo excited. We are going to Cape Coral on Friday night, and then heading Long Boat Key on Saturday till sunday. I fully expect to come back hungover and sun burnt.

Useless Fact of the Day: Did you know that there are more Chess moves than molecules in the universe. In the first four moves alone there are over 300 billion combinations. WOW!

random thoughts

The fog was thick driving to work the other day. I snapped a few photos with my camera phone, which probably was not the safest idea, but the pictures are nice. I love the fog. There is just something serene about it. It is somewhat similar to a comfort zone. Mother Nature is sure a force to behold.

Quote for the day:

The reason so few people are successful is no one has yet found a way for someone to sit down and slide uphill.

-W. Clement Stone

Hmmm, in other words, "Hardwork and diligence will get you there, sitting on your ass complaining about it will not."

I think I did very well on my test on Monday. One down One to go... I have studyed my ass off and I am still no where near comfortable with the material. But alas, it is math, I am never comfortable with Math.

Have you ever heard of Flogging Molly? I saw a bumper sticker, a seriously neat four leaf clover, with the words Flogging Molly above it. So being myself, with a love of everything Irish, I googled it. It is a band, a very cool band, Irish/ Punk/ Rock ~ type music.

I found a song of theirs if your interested:

Useless fact of the day ~ Did you know that the dot over the letter 'i' is called a tittle? Wierd, why not just dot... like dot your "i"s...

That is about it for me today folks, hope you have enjoyed todays random toughts, brought to you in part by Heather.

Abast Ye Landlubbers

Props to Patrick once again. It is apparently Talk like a pirate day. I never knew there was such a thing, but I got the whole damned office in stitches, laughing so hard. You should check out some of the crazy links. I have got my mom emailing me with some crazy Ahoy Maties talk!My pirate name is:

Captain Ethel Kidd

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. ARR!

I have that Crazy frog song stuck in my head, if you have no idea what I am talking about, see last post, I provided a great link to his video. Ding Ding!

I stayed up until 0230 this morning studying for this damned psych test. I hate tests. Funny how someone who loves school so much could hate anything so deeply about it. I don't mind homework and learning, I just get all nervous when I take tests. Unnatrually so, yeah I have issues, so what.

Trivial Fact of the day: The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene.

I leave you with another video clip... I keep getting this emailed to me, and I just can't figure out why...

16 - 7

Florida head coach Urban Meyer gestures to his players during the game against Tennessee at Florida Field in Gainesville on Saturday. The Gators won, 16-7, giving Meyer his first SEC win

GOOOOO
GATORS!!!!!
WOW, that was a great game! Both teams played their hearts out. 0 turn overs on either side, I am still excited! The only bad part is that two of our best receivers were seriously injured. Andrea Jackson broke is leg and was rushed into surgery, and Ray McDonald came away with an ACL injury. I don't know to what extent yet, but he should be back before the end of the season. Jackson is out for at least the rest of the year.

I can't tell you how good it felt to watch that game! In the last quarter, we had a 7 minute 52 second drive. That is such an improvement from last year. Last year we would come on strong, and then lose it in the second half...

UF running back DeShawn Wynn tries for extra yardage during a first-down run against Tennessee at Florida Field in Gainesville on Saturday. UF won the game, 16-7, giving head coach Urban Meyer his first SEC win.

Gators quarterback Chris Leak throws for a first down during the first quarter of their game against the University of Tennessee at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville on Saturday.

UF's Demetrice Webb (far right) blocks a field goal attempt by Tennessee's James Wilhoit (far left) during the second quarter of their game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. The block kept the game tied, 7-7.

This was probably one of the best plays in the game, go gators....

Okay enough about football, I am just a girl after all!

Have any of yall heard the Crazy Frog song? Well, I loved it when it was just a ring tone, and they made it into a song, and then a video... For your viewing pleasure! You can't help but love it!

Useless fact of the day: Cats that have three colors of fur can only be female. The multi colored gene apparently lies in the x cromosome, so male cats can have two, but not three colors. Only when an X is paired with another X, (meaning a female) will there be three colors...

Okay that was my last gene fact for a while... LOL, I just thought it was neat!

Okay I got to go to bed, I have a lot of studying to do tomorrow!

It's Friiidddaaaay

you aint got not job, aint got shit to do, Ima get you high.... Name that movie!

Not looking forward to the weekend. I have made a break through on my statistics though, I am hoping to be well prepared for this test, but it is going to take me all weekend to do it! I have to study for Psych as well... Where does the time go?

It seems like lately time has just snowballed. I mean wasn't I just typing my update for last Friday? Wow, time flies, even when you are not having fun!

I do plan on watching the Gator TN game Saturday night. I love football, especially Gator football.... This is the first televised game this year (that you did not have to buy)...

Okay, I have given it some thought, and would like to introduce to you, some of the people on my blog roll!

Larry ~ You will hear about this great guy often, if you frequent my blog. He is not only my best friend, but also my cousin, co-worker, roommate, I mean he is like a brother to me. Ladies, watch out, he is a great catch. There is not a more caring or considerate guy on the face of this earth, and Cute too! He is always there when you need him, he knows when to listen and when to push! In his blog, you will find mostly the day to day personal journal entries, mixed with a dry humor and wit that only Larry can pull off. He includes pictures from some of our more interesting outings, and in general a good insight into life.

Bonnie Rae ~ I met Bonnie through work, and we have become very close. She actually introduced me to blogging, and helped pull me out of my shell a bit. She introduced me to online poetry forums, and encouraged me to share my work. Bonnie is an avid writer, with so much talent, it is unreal. She dabbles in short stories, poems, and is currently working on a couple of Novels. She has let me read bits and clips here and there, and I cannot wait until they are done. Bonnie recently got rid of her blog, and downgraded to a myspace blog. On her new blog, you will find tidbits of info about what is happening in her life, and hopefully some of her new work! Bonnie can always make me smile, she always has an ear to lend, and always has an idea on how to make things better.

Casey ~ Casey and I used to be neighbors, and she now works with me at the pd. Casey is a very sweet southern gal, who loves her dogs! She breeds pit bulls, and has a minpin. She has recently built her first home, and adopted a family member's son until they get on their feet. I always tease her about being a "redneck girl" because she owns an ATV and goes mudding. Casey also has a myspace blog, where you will find her life reflections, and juicy tidbits about vacations and work...

Rachel ~ I met Rachel through PoetryArray well over a year ago. I count myself lucky to have made such a good online friend as her. When this woman has a vision, she just goes for it. Since PA, she has created her very own website, LyricalMuse which is totally awesome. She always has an ear to listen and words of wisdom to share. Though she does not update often, due to her new career, it is well worth the wait! Rachel is also a writer, if you did not gather from the poetry sites... This woman has some raw talent!

Oprayearth
~ I met this classy lady on Lyricalmuse, and I thought she was my age. Turns out, she is still in high school. Opray is an artist, poet, writer, swimmer, and advanced student. I love to read her blog, because it takes me down memory lane. You will read about swim meets, and see some of her drawings, which kick ass by the way. She seems to have an affinity for cars.

MBTankerslEy ~ This fellow I ran into on PoetryArray, and he is a kick ass poet! He actually has two blogs listed under my friends. Turmoil of 1000 hands is his view on things such as politics, he is a Democrat, to borrow his line "so nobody can accuse me of being partisan." He writes about a variety of subjects there. TankerslEy has a career in the advertising business, so don't let him fool you with the "would be poet" mumbo jumbo.... He is a very good writer. In his other blog you will find tales of his encounters during daily life.

MichaelDrew ~ AKA Jezter. I ran into this cat on LyricalMuse. He is a most interesting man! He is a tattoo artist, writer, and poet, so he is well versed in the arts! I have learned a ton from reading his work, and his comments to my work. He is dubbed the King of Metaphors in my book! In his blog you will find a collection of short stories, mostly inspired by dreams of his, and the beginning of a very captivating novel I think... you will have to go back aways to find the beginning, but it is well worth it!

PatrickVance ~ Now this is a great blog! I blogged before I stumbled on to his, but now I am just addicted. Patrick is an extremely funny fellow, who enjoys tennis and coffee shops. On his blog you will find some of the most random thoughts, pictures, cool links, and daily adventures with friends. This blog opened up a whole new door to blogging. There are tons of links to other cool blogs, as well as the Patrick wide web, which are blogs all kept up by him. I was hooked on day one that I started reading it!

Dano ~ I found Dano's blog by way of Patrick's blog, and though we have just recently begun our online friendship, I find myself addicted to his blog as well. Patrick and Dano are friends in the real world as well. Dano enjoys tennis and trips up to the "tree" with his pals. He is forever posting awesome pictures that he takes, as well as music, links, and some pretty wild tales of what goes on in his life. You should ask him about the jacuzzi thing... Also a ton of cool blogs linked there.

Justin ~ Man this is the domino affect I swear. Justin's blog I found through Dano... LOL funny how that works. Justin is a corrections officer, and also in the National Air Guard. He is currently deployed in Guam, and is a terrific person. On his blog you will find some AWSOME pictures and some serious adventures that he takes on this island. He also writes some short stories, which I was lucky enough to sample one, and anxiously await the next part. You should scroll through till you find the coconut story, it is great!

Carmel ~ and last but definitely not least is Carmel. Carmel actually found me through Patrick's blog, (I told you it is like the doorway to blogville.) She lives in Australia and is a devout Catholic. On her blog you will find cool pictures, quizes, updates on everything that is going on in the world of Catholicism, and her reflections on life. Carmen always has encouraging words to share, and her blog has some fascinating things in it.

Whew, I thought that was going to be harder than it was. I guess even though I have never even met some of these people, they are not complete strangers.

So, in dedication to friendship, there are those who blog, and those who don't, some are new and some are old... A poem I found:

"Portrait of a Friend"

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship,
from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can't tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.
--Unknown

One of my friends who does not blog, gave me a great idea for my blog. A trivial fact of the day, so I think I am going to give it a shot.

Todays fact: Did you know that the gene that causes Tigers to be white, also causes them to be cross eyed? It's true, google it, I did.

over the hump day

I found this quiz on Carmel's blog. It is a pretty good blog, you should check it out!

You are St Brigid's Cross: St. Brigid is an Irish saint who hand-wove a cross, out of rushes she found by the river. She made the cross while explaining the passion of our Lord to a pagan man.

I thought it was neat!

So I went to visit my grandparents last night. It was a pretty good visit. They of course needed all of their electronics fixed, which was not a problem. And my Papa gave me what was left of this package of string cheese. He said he just did not like it, Looking somewhat skeptical, because I know that he did not know what it was, I asked him how he ate it.... He replied that he wrapped it up in a piece of lunch meat, and just ate it, but that it was really chewy. And here is my Papa making this aweful face as he described how chewy it was. I could not help but laugh, as I showed him how to eat string cheese. He was just like, no that's alright you take it, I don't like it.

The Hummingbird Hawk Moth Right here for your viewing pleasure. It looks like a humming bird, but if you look closely you will see that it has antennas, unlike the bird.

Well I guess it is over the hump day. The weekend is drawing near, and I am not looking forward to it. I have two tests next week. I feel prepared for niether, but that could just be the perfectionist in me, driving what is left of my sanity right over the edge.

I am going to the gym after class today. I have not been able to go since last week, so this should prove to be a bit of a challenge. We shall see if I can handle the wieght I was at, after a week break from training.

I think I am going to borrow an idea from one of my blog pals listed under friends. MBTankersley, took the time to introduce some of the people he had listed in his blog roll, and I think that is a good idea. I have some really cool blogs that I have become somewhat addicted to. So I think I will have to be thinking about what I want to write about each of you!

We are doing Wendy's for lunch. This is exciting because there really is not a Wendy's in this small town. But someone has offered to drive the 15 miles to get there, order lunch and bring it back... Ah, excitement in a small town... We'll be back with "What we are having for lunch, after these messages..."

I think men go through something similar to PMS.... Like perhaps MMS, (Mean Man Syndrome) Because sometimes for no reason apparent, men have these mood swings. I would say very similar to a woman's PMS mood swing. It is not a bad thing, but I think it is funny that there is no name for it. Anyways. A friend of mine seemed to be having a MMS day, and nothing we did seemed to cheer him up. How do you get through to a guy. With a woman it is easy, buy her chocolate... Why is it that men pull into their little man cave and try to sort through whatever is bothering them, on their own?

Blog ya later...

Busy little bee

Tribute lights shown in the place the Twin Towers used to stand on 9-11. I thought these were pretty cool. I was unaware that they did this, but I think it is a neat idea.

This is a pretty shot too!

I don't think 9/11 got the rememberance that it usually does due to this hurricane thing, and I don't think that is right. More rant on that later.

I have been super busy this week. I don't feel like I have gotten any more accomplished than usual, but I have had zero time as of lately. Have not worked any overtime, I did get tutored on stats last night, then ran around town looking for a good picture frame to go with the picture I posted of Ruth and me (see last post.) Then went to bed.

I don't know what the deal is. I don't really have anything good to report on, any cool links to share, of funny pictures. For as busy as I have been, not a lot has happened.

Begin Rant/
I guess I could talk about the things that have been happening in the media about Katrina that I don't agree with... First of all, I agree with Patrick about them imediately comparing this with 9/11. This has nothing to do with that. Terrorism is on a whole different scale from natural disasters. Now, I could see if they said something along the lines of, "This is the worst thing to happen on US Soil since 911... " or something to that degree, but other wise they are just comparing apples to oranges.

75% of New Orleans evacutated. There were some good people that did not evacuate in the left over 25%, but for the most part they were the welfare parasites, who blame the government for their station in life, to begin with. I also heard, that due to the lack of planning a city wide evacuation, the mayor, at the last minute, released inmates from the jail, to fend for themselves. hmmmm, and we wonder why there is looting. Let me go to the walmart and steal a big screen plasma tv, then shoot at the elcectrician who is trying to turn my power back on, so I can't watch it. There is no excuse for the behavior that these people are displaying. Then they hand out $2000.00 credit cards for food, water, and necessities, and one lady went to Goergia and bought an $800.00 purse, WTF! What are you going to do with a purse that costs $800? I am tired of hearing about New Orleans. Lets here about Mississippi, or Alabama, they were devestated too, and you don't see as much of the mass chaos there...

A natural or manmade disaster is a time for our countrymen, or anyone for that matter, (because it could happen anywhere) to come together. Not rape, pillage, and plunder. Not shoot at the linemen, police officers, and fellow citizens. It is completely beyond my imagination, what could have made these people think that this was okay. I mean, I just don't get it. Welfare parasites and criminals... what would you expect.

That is all I care to say about it. I am very disapointed.

More later!

We were hit pretty hard last year, and you did not see anything like this. That is as far as I am going to take this.
/end rant

YA. nothin about Miss. or Alabama. Its like this scale now, worse than 911, but not as bad as the tsunami. WTF! Where do we put the next one?

I agree that people have tended to focus on New Orleans and skip over the rest of the Gulf Coast. The company I work for has a center in Gulfport, and everyone I know there had their homes destroyed or damaged. NO is a major American city though- it is natural that the media would focus there.

Also, that is the place where the levees broke, due to "lack of funds" to bring them up to snuff. Gulfport, Biloxi and all the other little towns were devastated by a natural disaster. NO was devastated by that PLUS flooding that could have been prevented.

Boot drive

Today is a sad day for America. I would ask you to take a moment of silence as you read this to remember that no matter how big your country, or how invincible you think you are(we all get those feelings of it will never happen to me,) You are not. Say a prayer if you pray, or just think about those who were affected that day, who lost family members, and take time to thank those ordinary men and women who make extraordinary heroes in times of crisis, from the dispatcher, to the police officer, to the firefighters and EMT's, to the search and rescue teams with dogs, to the normal civilian just trying to help. Those who came together and donated money, blood, and other necessities. 9/11 was a day to remember for all Americans. A shock wave felt through the heart of this country.

George W. Bush said, "America's Freedom has been tested, and I assure you we will pass the test!" And we did. This country came together, and sent volunteers from all over. I am thankful to live in a place where though diversity is a definition of the citizens and cultures, unity is prominent in time of need. We even had assistance from Canada.

This country came together then, and it is coming together now for hurricane relief. Many police officers, firefighters, emt's, contractors, electricians, and even morticians, from my area have gone to Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi to help with relief efforts. My heart goes out to all of the people affected by this catastrophe as well.

So it has been a good weekend. Friday night we (Ruth, Larry and I) went to Ale house for some grub. It is the second week in a row we went there. I really wanted steamed oysters and they were out last week, so I thought they might have them this week. Turns out they get their oysters from Louisiana so No oysters for me... Laura met us there, and then later her friend Amy. After we all went bowling. I did really good (for me) I bowled a 149, and got a turkey. (that is when you get three strikes in a row) Never happened before. The second game was more my usual score, and Larry kicked my ars with a 160 something... Mean ass... He could have let me revel in my all time high score.

Ruth stayed the night at my house, as we had to get up at the ass crack of dawn to go volunteer with my fire department for a boot drive. (it was not so bad, I just hate mornings!) We got there at 830, and stood in the road with boots collecting money till about 1230. We broke for lunch, and it was the heat of the day, and made our first deposit. We went back out at about 130, and collected more money. In total we collected around $3,500 for Hurricane victims. We have a group that is going to go up there with the money, clothes, food and water that we have collected and deliver it all. We made contact with another volunteer fire department in Mississippi I believe, and it was heart breaking. One of our firefighters got several phone numbers and just started dialing. When he finally got through the answer he got was unbelievable. "Hello, OMG it works, the phone works, there is someone on the other end, hello..." they have not had a phone or anything since it happened. All of these families, and those of the firefighters are there, and have lost everything. So I felt pretty good about the effort we put out. They are also collecting loads at Williston Tire, and Knauff's funeral home, and taking it up themselves. It is amazing the efforts our small town puts out.

After the boot drive, Ruth wanted to pack out, in fire gear, so we did, and took a few pictures.

Today I spent all day doing homework. I did not even get my laundry done. I finally got to sleep in, then once I was up, it was hit the books. I did break for dinner, which was good. I got a 90 on my online quiz, and I tried to take the next one too, but Vista was offline. But I am caught up on everything for my psychology class, but not ahead like I would have liked. I fear I am falling behind in my statistics class. I am hoping to get caught up in there this week.

I got my part time job back while I was at the bowling alley. I will be bartending on Friday nights again. In case you are new to the blog, I hurt my back at the beginning of the summer, and had to take a leave of absence for some therapy. Well, when I was released, I called and left five messages for the manager, and never heard back. I figured they filled the slot, and cut my losses. Turns out he never got any of the messages, and can't wait to get me back. So that will be good, I will have some spending money again :)

I have got to go to bed yall, It is 2320 (1120, for those non military time peeps, I know you're out there!)
G'night...

Wierd/Rant mood ~ be Forewarned

SUPER SQUIRREL

Some things you never say to a woman! I was in CVS (pharmacy) and I ran into this little old lady that used to volunteer at the Police Department a couple of years ago. I was like, "Hey Rena" and I could tell by the blank look on her face that she had no clue. I was figuring old age, so I held out my hand and said Heather from down at the PD. blah blah blah.... I walked away. She followed me a ways before she finally caught up to say "I did not recognize you, you gained weight. " My jaw hit the floor and, and a ton of dirty mean thoughts went trough my head, I almost punched her in the middle of CVS, I restrained myself, and said well it was nice talking to you, and turned away. Old Hag!

It was a blow to my self esteem, though I know she was probably just covering for her memory lapse. I lot has changed since then, I got a hair cut, and I did gain about 20 pounds thanks to prednisone. But I am going to the gym three times a week, drinking 100 ounces of water a day, and taking vitamins to flush that shit out of my liver. That's it, I am just never eating again. WTF! I am not beyond recognition, and I am by no means fat! B****!

Someone said to me a couple of days ago, that I should make time for a guy, or I will wake up tomorrow and be 50, and alone. It is not that I won't make time for a guy, I just won't make time for the bullshit. Where have all the decent guys gone? I am not looking for a perfect hunk of burning love. Just someone who can h0ld an intelligent two way conversation, who cares for more than just himself, with a healthy sex drive, a good sense of humor, ahhh the shopping list goes on. And I guess the point is that I am not really looking. I am single, and I am okay with that. I miss the good morning kisses, and scary movies (where you can cuddle down in your mans arms and not be afraid...) and all kinds of stuff.

I realize that I am a busy woman, work, school, studying, gym, life... but it would be nice to find a someone who you could just be yourself around, who you could call for no reason other than the fact that you are bored, who would laugh at your corny jokes. I always end up with bums/ self absorbed pricks/ alcoholics/ closet drug addicts/ or just plain ass holes! But they always start out the nice guys.... if only it would last. Just be your self. If you are an asshole, save me the grief, and just be an asshole. No, I won't date you, but save me the trouble.

What ever happened to the days of Chivalry, opening doors, not expecting a woman to put out on the first date?

Last two boyfriends for example: We will call them Joe and Bob.

Joe, started out great. For the first three months, he was consiederate, on time, did what he said he was going to do, then he just revealed his true colors. He is a self absorbed prick.

Bob: Started out a little bumpy... but he recovered. Then I found out he was an alcoholic. He even started keeping Amber Bach in my fridge. Now I am down with social drinking. But drinking every night... uh that is a little much!

I actually made time for both of them. Blah~ I give up!

I know what you mean. You shouldn't be with someone just to be with someone. Then the worries of finding someone good enough. The thoughts of lowering your standards... okay, maybe this is just me, imposing my issues on anyone else... anywho.

I have been on both sides of that coin. Self absorbed prick/good guy who tries. Both sides made me appreciate the women I date today, but ya I agree with Justin, you shouldn't be with someone just to be with someone. You are a busy woman from what I've read, and I think thats a lot better than being a settler for the sake of it.
I would have punched her in the face!

I certainly understand where you're coming from... although I've been married for 10 years this December, I recall how it seemed to me there were no "good women" at one time. I used to say that if there was one person for everybody, the person for me must be in China, because I sure wasn't meeting them.

I've always been one of the "good friend" types and it took a while to find somebody who appreciated that. My only unsolicited advice would be to make sure you're not overlooking alternatives that are there that may not seem obvious at first.

Don't worry about the strange woman's opinion- from the photos I've seen posted, you're above average looks-wise, as if that is what counts. The fact that you are intelligent and a talented wordsmith should add to your appeal.

Thursday

Congratulations. you are the kiss my ass happy bunny. (it goes on to say some things that I don't agree with so I deleted them... I just like the pictures!)

I feel even crappier today... than I felt yesterday. I went to work, school, came home, hit the sack for a couple of hours, and I feel a little better having caught a nap. I did not go to the gym today, I feel like I cheated on my plan or something, but hey, there was no way I would have made it all the way through my work out, I could hardly keep my head up in class. Speaking of class...

Statistics is getting further and further over my head, as I struggle to make sense of what seems to be Greek that my teacher writes on the board. Se La Ve I guess. I will get it eventually, I just get really aggravated when I don't pick stuff up right away. I guess that is the Taurus in me... I have like no patience when it comes to stuff like that.

Patience - that is an interesting topic. Why is it that some people seem to be born with oodles of it, and some with none at all? Take Larry, he rarely ever gets frustrated, never yells out with road rage about stupid people driving under the speed limit... Me, I can be patient with children, and animals, and that is about as far as it goes. I think it is because I have a short attention span, I dunno.... Anyone?

sOoOoOo

Yeah okay so it has been a really long day at work today, and I can't even explain why. I am feeling kinda crapy so that could have something to do with it.

So I worked on statistics for like 3+ hours last night, and I am still having issues. I have given up, and seeking professional help... lol some think I should have done that a long time ago. I am going to the teaching center at UF for what I think is free tutoring. I hope it is free, as I am one broke joker! School is not cheap. But before I go there, Ruth asked me to go to this Club fair thing at the Reitz Union. I was totally for it, I am thinking of joining the Catholic student group, and possibly the Young Republicans Club. I figure it will be a good way to meet people. (If I ever get off my lazy bum and go to meetings... most likely I will say I have too much homework, or I worked out today and I am tired.... I know me too well.) Then we will grab a bite to eat, and I will head to my doom, or er uh tutor...

So I bought this purse from ABC distributers, I got it for $6.95... I think it is really cute. I ordered one for Bonnie, but hers is a Tinkerbell not Ariel.

Speaking of Bonnie, I have updated her link under friends as well as Casey's. They both now blog through myspace. SO, the links are fixed. And MB Tankersly has also started a new... his link is also fixed. That is pretty funny, like half of my links were not working properly!

If you are a poetry affectiona-doe you should check out the new Lyrical Muse. It is up and running. They Admins are still working out a few glitches, but it looks nice! Good job Bonnie and Rachel!

So Gas prices are not as bad here as they are in some places, but my gosh my bank account does not feel that way!

Isn't that the truth! Any ~ Ble ~ who...

I have two more hours before I can leave, I better get back to it! Catch ya later!

Muh weekend so far...

So it has been a pretty good weekend so far! Friday night was fun! Lar and I went to Ale house and had a few beverages, then went and played pool at Silver Q, I will let him tell you what amazing magic I worked there. We were up till 430 playing cards, but agian, I will let him tell the story, his link is under friends (Larry) He might take a little longer to update, so be patient...

Then Saturday, Seeing as how I was up sooooo late drinking, I slept till like 1450... (that is 250 for all the non military time peeps) I got up, did all my laundry, (we) cleaned the house from top to bottom, grocery shopped, I went and worked out, got stuck in Gator game traffic, came home and cooked at like 10 pm, and watched this AWESOME movie called A Lot Like Love. Very good romantic comedy. Somewhat of a chick flick, but funny all the same! I was stuck in traffic for like 40 minutes for a drive that usually takes 10 maybe 15. That was slightly aggravating!

I went with a friend today to take her child to Chuck E. Cheese. It was interesting to say the least. Took a bunch of pictures with my camera phone for her. I think she was happy, and I know that Sammy had a good time. Their pizza gave me immediate acid reflux though.

Here is a picture of the sunset from the Hilton view I had in Daytona. Meant to post it a long time ago! Sorry it took so long

Inspired by the mention of Ice Age on Patrick's blog, here are two of my favorite songs from Rusted Root. They sing the theme song for Ice Age, which is one of the songs included. I have loved this CD for so long. If ever I am in a bad mood, this cd makes me feel better. You just can't help but bouncing along to the beat. It is different, but not bad different. Just listen! The Album is called When I Woke...

Link: Send Me On My Way

Link: Beautiful People

So we just went and saw The Sound of Thunder. It wasn't bad. It has nothing to do with thunder, come to think of it I have NO idea where they came up with that name. We actually went to see The Skeleton Key, but the lines to get tickets were crazy long. I have no idea why either, nothing came out... Anyways, it was not a waste of money, but I suggest renting it.

Tomorrow I plan on hitting the books pretty hard. I have run out of excuses to procrastinate. I am not usually this bad about not wanting to do my homework, but it is Statistics, and more than that, I don't understand it, so learning it is not fun. Yeah, I know I am a nerd, I like to learn... but not this crap!

Well guys that is about it from me for tonight, Happy Labor day folks, officially started here 25 minutes ago!

3 Days off!

It's Friday, and I got a tree day weekend starting at 2000 tonight! Think I am going to go to the Gainesville Ale house for a nice icee beverage and some dinner.

Link: Icon War

The first Gator game of the season is tomorrow... It is on pay-per-view, which sucks because well it costs money, but is good because they are donating most of the proceeds to the relief effort for Katrina.

I am supposed to go to Chucky Cheeses with a friend of mine and her daughter. I can't wait to play some ski ball. Sammy should love it, she has never been. It is kinda wierd though, because all these adults are going to take one kid... Too funny.

My new key board:
That's all you need right there!

Other than that, I plan on spending some quality time getting to know statistics, and reading for my psychology class.

With some encouragement from my friends, I signed up for a Myspace account. Not to worry, I totally plan on continuing my blogging efforts here. I am not exactly sure what this sight is other than an over glorified dating service... LOL, you can host way more pictures and tell a bit about yourself. There are multiple chat rooms, and you can search for various interests. Anyways, feel free to check it out...

Link: MySpace

So I love this picture, prolly cause I have and love a chihuahua named Draco!

He is dangerous too, let me tell ya!

Well I guess that about sums it up. I don't have a whole lot going on in my life right now that is exciting enough to share... School and work, and the gym. I do think I have become addicted to working out. Though I had a bad experience yesterday. After my work out I hit the pool for a good long swim. I am hitting lap 51 (exactly 3/4 of a mile) and I see what looks like a reflection of a lane rope, and I was like there is no way, it looked so close. I kept swimming. I got to the end of the lane, and there is this lady standing there with the rope in her hand. I was swimming in about two feet of space. She was like I need this lane for water aerobics. So I move over a lane, and start to push off, and she was like "no we are using that lane too." At this point in time I am starting to get slightly aggitated. I answered you need three lanes to teach water aerobics? And she was like well you can go join them. I was pissed. I was like no, I was here first, I don't want to share a lane with three people. So I just got out, and splashed her in the process, and had this really really evil mental image flash through my head... I just saw her falling in the pool, expensive work out outfit shoes and all, pushed by me. I cracked up as I walked away. I soooooo could have done it, but I did not want to get kicked out of the gym...

On a higher note, I ran into this guy at the gym, he works there, and he was like you look really familiar. Turns out we had a class together two years ago. And he remembered me. I had no clue who he was, he looked familiar, but he is hot, so you never know.

Well that really was the most intresting thing that happened this week. How sad is that? I will blog you folks later!
